READ NUTRITION LABELS DAY

Develop your label-reading habit!  The Nutrition Facts label is required by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on most packaged foods and beverages.  It provides detailed information about a food's nutrient content, such as the amount of fat, sugar, sodium and fiber it has.  On Bermuda's Food Label Guide, Healthy and "OK" amounts are sodium - 190 mg or less; sugar - 15 grams or less; total fat - 5 grams or less; and saturated fat - 1 gram or less.  Try to eat fewer foods and beverages that contain more than those amounts and also, pay special attention to the serving size on the label (see the EatWellBermuda Plate at www.gov.bm)
